Guests in residence in one of our Zen temple will be granted the opportunity to practice the zazen (sitting meditation), under the direct guidance of the Zen Buddhist monk who is the authority at each temple.
Zazen originated in India and can be seen as a form of mental or spiritual training to polish one’s inner self by sitting in the correct posture, breathing regularly, and abandoning worldly thoughts.While zazen is a core practice of any Buddhist school, this particular training has been chiefly emphasized by Zen schools as a method to achieve Satori, or spiritual enlightenment.
